Thermosetting resins based on epoxy are known since long time as good insulating materials for heavy electrical applications. In the last years, their intrinsic behaviour has been coupled with specific features given by the selection of appropriate formulation, use of special fillers, optimization of thermal curing profiles to maximize important properties like thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, toughness, flame resistance, etc..

Under the tradenames of Elan-tronâ and Epoxylite â are grouped a wide range of well established epoxy materials, used in the field of Electrical/Electronic protection, Engineering Materials and Secondary Insulations.

An overview of the main characteristics of the products suitable for the protection of motors, transformers, household appliances, automotive components, etc. will be given and specific examples of solutions in these area will be presented with particular emphasis on the emerging needs related to thermal dissipation, materials compatibility, fire estinguishing behaviour and safe handling.
